Sneak Peek for Madi

Today my job was easy – I got to follow around this beautiful lady all afternoon. :)

Congratulations to all the Grads of 2011! Wishing you a brilliant future.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did.  So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor.  Catch the trade winds in your sails.  Explore.  Dream.  Discover.

So proud of you Sheilah!

Sheilah and I go way back…. ;)   We first met at an early literacy preschool/parenting program almost 7 years ago now where we were both attending with our preschool aged children. Back then there was an option for parents on an additional day to work on finishing up high school if they hadn’t yet or start into college courses if they had – with their children in preschool at the same time.

It all began back then – Sheilah chose to start pursuing her dream.

Pam was our early literacy parenting class and Virtues teacher, she always made it clear that we had choices in our lives – that we were capable – and that we all had Virtues – that we should embrace and encourage not only in ourselves but in our children and families. Sheliah is the first of the young parents who started their education with “Families in Motion” to graduate from University with a Bachelors Degree.

It has been a privileged to know you and to watch you Sheilah, as you have persevered and made sacrifices along the way to accomplish your goals…. though it sounds like you aren’t done yet  :)

Recently graduating with her Bachelor of General Studies and Indigenous Studies Certificate – WAY TO GO SHEILAH!.

And way to go Clinton – she couldn’t have made it this far without your love and support and help in raising your 5 beautiful children.  Your commitment to each other and your family is a testament to any young family that returning to school to pursue your dreams regardless of the barriers or challenges, is possible!

Hornby – Day three – Home James…

I managed to remember to give Tess her special book I picked out for her at the “free store”. Of course one of Sandra Boynton’s books… one of the first ones we received when Avianna was born – MOO BAA La La La – if you haven’t read your toddler one of her books yet – check her out – our family LOVES her stories and can recite them word for word 10 years later.

So fun… and not nearly long enough… but I was happy to come home all the same. Here are the lovely ladies I traveled with!

Young and Beautiful.

So for our second fun shoot – we had three lovely young beautiful volunteers.

It was a blast just hanging out being creative and having room to explore that. Thank you ladies!

Here are a sampling of my images that evening.

A Retreat to Hornby – Day Two

Started with a walk to the beach…

…then home through the forest.

A cup of tea with Tess.

A trip to the Free Store

A walk around the coolest community arts center building… then coffee and crafts at the local market – what more could a girl ask for. ;)

Treasures washed and hung out on the line for the evening shoot.

Then off to our first shoot… the love one.

Then home for dinner and a fabulous night!

Tess and Jennifer

These make me smile!

At the beach… with Emily.

“I have always loved the beach. The smell of the salty water, the wind in my face, the gentle roar of the waves all combine to create a sense of peace and calm.”

A Retreat to Hornby – Day One

I recently had the privileged of traveling to Hornby Island for a weekend away with other female photographers. We had lots of laughs, nourishing food, inspiring conversation and of course took a ton of pictures… here is the first post in a series of my time away and the memories made. Can’t wait for next year ;)

An icy afternoon at the park with friends.
